The Jamaica Physiotherapy Association, the brain child of Ms. Phyllis Wilson, was founded in May 1964. The initially defined functions were to:

  • Give recognition to, promote and protect the profession of Physical Therapy in Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean;

  • Standardise clinical techniques and practices to help to maintain quality control;

  • Achieve bargaining status
