Vision Statement

We are the sole regulatory body for Physiotherapists and the public resource for Physiotherapy in Jamaica, a leader in research and evidence-based practice, facilitating life-long learning for our members, actively involved in National Health Policy development with an engaged membership.

Our Six Strategic Goals

1. To develop a culture of life long learning among the membership
2. To make the JPA the sole regulatory body for Physiotherapy in Jamaica
3. To actively encourage and promote membership and participation of physiotherapists in Jamaica within the JPA
4. To facilitate continued research with a view to increase evidence-based practice and professional recognition
5. To provide accessible information on physiotherapy through various media and extend our services to the community through outreach programme
6. To be actively involved in the development and implementation  of health policies which impact on delivery of physiotherapy care to all persons in Jamaica

1. Increase offering of Jamaica based physiotherapy degrees and specialization
2. Increase funding of scholarship programmes

Goal 2: To make the JPA the sole regulatory body for Physiotherapy in Jamaica

1. Develop definition to governing body’s role
2. Develop definition of governing body’s role
3. Create proposal to separate from CPSM

Goal 3:  To actively encourage and promote membership and participation

1. Identify and provide benefits

Goal 4: To facilitate continued research with a view to increase evidence based practice and professional recognition

1. Encourage and facilitate research by clinicians
2. Establish a database  for outcome  measures by clinicians

Goal 5: To provide accessible information on physiotherapists and extend our services through community outreach

1. Educate the public about the roles and functions of the physiotherapist
2. Re-establish and maintain our website
3. Create a standardised approach to community outreach

Goal 6: To be actively involved in development and implementation of health policies which impact on delivery of physiotherapy care of all persons in Jamaica

1. Review existing health policies and make recommendations
2. Meet with other health professions for exchange of ideas and guidelines
3. Make proposals to Ministry of Health
